Earthweek Eruption In March Turrialba experienced a very explosive eruption similar to the one, which occurred approximately twenty years ago. Back from Extinction
A rare grasshopper species, which people thought was extinct for the past decade resurfaced in Nagano, Japan. A group of the red-winged grasshoppers was found in undisclosed grassland area, where they were being held for close monitoring and protection. In fact, one 73-year old grasshopper specialist, Masaaki Kobayashi says that he was shocked to see the rare grasshopper. The specialist was involved in drafting the prefecture that declared the akabane-betta as extinct in Nagano. The citing took place in August 2014 but was reported 2015, and there are fears that environmental changes could drive the few surviving rare grasshoppers into extinction.
Songbird Slaughter
A report by the international bird conservation group has it that more than two million migratory birds were trapped and killed in Cyprus last year to act as food delicacy. Cyprus community regards the bird as an extraordinary food delicacy yet the island lies in the songbird’s migratory route. In fact, Birdlife Cyprus reports the birds were indiscriminately slaughtered using nets and sticks. The expensive nature of the delicacy make the restaurant owners ignore the existing ban on killing and selling of wild birds, and the authorities seem to do little to stop the illicit Cyprus’s bird trade.

Maligned cockroaches can possess a variety of characters, and that is why they can adapt to the unconducive conditions, according to the report of a Belgian research team. The team made the discovery after observing how fast the roaches seek shelter when exposed to the open lit area, and always searching for food. The scientists categorized the cockroaches’ behavior as cautious and bold explorer. The distinct personalities such as grouping, of various species primarily help them to survive in the harsh environment where they constantly at risk of predator attack or catastrophic events killing them.
