Reading Response The development of self-confidence in writing motivates so many to become teachers of writing. Indeed, confidence, attitude,and beliefs play a major role in the teaching of argument. In understanding argument, one can describe the conception of argument as a form of persuasion dialogue. Most importantly though, is that there is a distinction between point of view and commitment store in the run to studying and teaching argument. Indeed, dialogue is a conventionalized, objective activity between two individuals who use speech to respond via countermove or reply. There are six types of dialogue that include negotiation, persuasion, inquiry, deliberation, information-seeking, and eristic that denote the success of any dialogue.
This leads to the question of forming an argument that in this case refers to persuasion dialogue. The creation of any argument follows basic elements that include data, claim, warrant, and rebuttal. A persuasion dialogue reveals the bases of conviction and the background of conviction. It also seeks the parties to prove their conclusions in an argument. In an argument, we are likely to get parties with constructed points that they commit to defend in an argument and counter arguments. Nevertheless, the aim of a dialogue is not to produce a loser or a winner.
I developed the "Active Reading" skill while learning in this course. Active reading involves critical thinking and reflections. I learnt that there are challenges and opportunities that pertain to active reading a given set of information. Active reading equally involves the definition of reference terms, development of concepts, and discussions. More so, active reading follows rhetoric. Active reading is thus important to an individual in that it denotes clear understanding of the topic and hence the ability to draw relevant conclusions. It helps in imparting knowledge.
