Knowledge Management and Artificial Intelligence Differences between knowledge management (KM) and artificial intelligence (AI) Knowledge management involves the process of enhancing and maximizing organizational human resource capacity using knowledge based assets (Torun, 2009). Under knowledge management, the point of focus and strength is the human resource reorganization using knowledge systems that generate ideas for the optimization of potential. After generation of such ideas, the most important strengths are captured in the reorganized system of operation in order to entrench change. Sharing of the new found ideas for the good of the entire organization becomes key in the dispensation of the winning formula. Finally, application of the identified success path in the organization completes the circuit for implementation of the knowledge system of organization.
Artificial intelligence incorporates computer science input that integrates intelligent machine features capable of mimicking human beings at places of work (Garner, Staab and Tsui, 2000). Intelligent machine systems focus on the machine world and how innovation can add value to the human society by making work easier. The process of integrating machines into human world involves complicated but independent effort.
Examples on how KM and AI can be used in patient care
Knowledge management can be performed in patient care through improvement of human resource elements in the delivery of healthcare services. Specific examples would be to look after the nurses and doctors welfare and assist them in creating a work-life balance. Alternatively, improving healthcare professionals’ morale for instance through elaborate promotional structures and remuneration increment can facilitate improvements. These entail an understanding of the intricate issues that affect the human resource and intervening through such improvements.
Artificial intelligence in patient care can be devoted to animated machine systems that can take care of patients to compliment human healthcare providers’ efforts. Such patient management systems can be automated to facilitate elimination of cases unattended patients due to lack of enough human resources or its mistakes. Such automated systems could target improvements to make them accurate, timely, precise and cheap in the long run than the human input inpatient care.
