Research Theory – Essay Example

Research Theory Hypothesis Are the research hypotheses clearly and explicitly d? This is the study aimed to unveil the difference in learning in a quantitative business course taught through video streaming and through face-to-face lecture. When critically approaching the study, it is well evident the researcher has clearly and explicitly stated the hypotheses. The researcher presents the hypotheses as, “The purpose of this study is to determine the efficacy of video-streamed classes and show there is no difference in learning outcomes for students in a traditional classroom setting and those learning through video-streamed methods” Buhagiar Tarek & Potter Robert, p. 3). The researcher has clearly stated that the study will prove that the traditional class room teaching settings and the modern video-streamed methods will have the same effect on the students.
Does the hypothesis state a clear association between variables?
The researcher has effectively used many variables to help support the given study. One of the prominent among them is the data collected from The University of Central Florida. Here the researcher analyses the classes handled via video streaming and understand the consequences of moving away from the traditional, face-to-face learning model. The researcher takes into account the final exam test scores of two sections of ECO 3401, taught at the University of Central Florida: one section taught only face-to-face, the other taught via video streaming (Buhagiar Tarek & Potter Robert, p. 2). The paper has also used factual evidences from many authors to prove the proposed study.
Are the hypothesis grounded in theory or in a review and presentation of relevant literature?
The hypothesis is fully grounded in theory, but it is an observation/perception of the researcher with the help of the various literature gathered for the study, and also with the analysis of the result of the final exam test scores of two sections of ECO 3401, taught at the University of Central Florida: one section taught only face-to-face, the other taught via video streaming.
Can the hypothesis be tested?
As the researcher has used a quantitative study for the proposed research, it is possible to test the hypothesis and the factors leading to the final result.
Method
Are both the independent and dependent clearly defined?
Regarding the study, it is understood that the researcher has used only independent variables. It becomes depended as the final result of the study is the same.
Are the definitions and descriptions of the variables complete?
Yes, the definitions and descriptions of the variables are complete. It is well evident in the Table which illustrates the Demographic and GPA comparison.
Is it clear how the study was conducted?
Yes, the study was conducted with a quantitative research with variables collected from The University of Florida and other statistical analysis.
