Running Head: UNIT 4 DB BUS310 Unit 4 DB Bus 310 Submitted by: XXXXXXX Number: XXXXXXX XXXXXXX of XXXXXXX Diversityat workplaces has become very important and the government aims ensuring that every workplace has a right combination of different people from over the world without giving importance to gender or race (Foothill, 2004). There have been various different regulations that have been made to fight against discrimination at work places. Concepts like Affirmative Action (AA) and Equal Employment Opportunities (EEO), and reverse discrimination have proved to be very effective remedies in the workplaces. Both AA and EEO, have a few laws that fall under them like: Equal Pay Act of 1963, Civil Rights Act of 1964, Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, Civil Rights Act of 1991, Current proposed EEO/AA Legislation, etc. An executive order 11246 was passed in 2002, which entailed the details for AA and EEO and the required steps to be taken to ensure complete diversity and no discrimination at work places (OFCCP, 2002). Also the laws have been enacted in many cases to ensure that every person gets equal chances to work without any discrimination based on the race, gender or age.
Along with the AA and EEO, discrimination can also be eliminated using other techniques like improved employee training and employment services. Companies can also work on monitoring the progress. Also, other actions like unbiased education and efficient and effective enforcement institutions along with positive action will prove to be helpful. The most impactful will be to increase the awareness among the public. Together these will help curb the issue of discrimination and will help companies perform better and increase dignity and respect for all (Gillian, 2003). Diversity plays a very important role in all countries and the government of every country has taken this issue very seriously and attempted to improve the working conditions. Hence it is a duty for all companies to follow the rules of AA and EEO and also to try their best to help reduce the discrimination at work.
