Women’s History Amy Goodman is one the youngest history making women in the United s and is know for her popular radio and television news program Democracy Now! She is not only the host and executive producer of Democracy Now! but she is also New York Time’s bestselling author along with a syndicated columnist (Goodman 2010). Amy is the most admired, most devoted and hardest-working progressive in America, who makes use of almost absolutely independent media through her daily radio and television show to reach her huge and admiring spectators (Goodman 2010). Furthermore, Amy has been fighting for truth and justice for numerous issues for issues related to women’s rights and domestic violence for the past 40 years, both locally and at the international level (Goodman 2010). She also rallied against the Utah Abortion Bill by suggesting that the bill could punish women for miscarriages and domestic violence (Goodman 2010).
Dolores Huerta is among the most powerful labor activists in recent times. She became a part of a group working for the rights of the farm workers which combined with the AFL-CIOs Agricultural Workers Organizing Committee (AWOC) (Dolores Clara Fernandez Huerta (1930- )). Together with her husband, she established the Farm Workers Association, which is now known as the United Farm Workers (UFW) (Dolores Huerta Biography n.d). During the 1960s she became involved with the increasing feminist movement and worked for the gender discrimination inside the farm worker movements (Dolores Huerta Biography n.d). Her consumer boycott in 1973 resulted in the California Agricultural Labor Relations Act of 1975, which permitted farm workers to establish unions and negotiate for improved remunerations and working environment (Dolores Clara Fernandez Huerta (1930- )). Dolores Huerta has been received numerous awards and has been added to the National Women’s Hall of Fame in 1993 due to her continuous efforts as an activist (Dolores Clara Fernandez Huerta (1930- )).
