E-Business design and E-Business design An e-business system is one that applies the use of internet to provide organizations with enough support to successfully perform their businesses and other related activities. Through the application of e-business, an organization can access a constant supply of money and customers. The main characteristic of e-business is the application of the internet and being versatile (Kurtz & Boone 2011, p. 241). While conservative businesses may operate from an office, e-business can function without this added expenditure. The system enables businesses to come up with fresh dynamics and increase the level of competition in the market. Value chain is the entire collection of business activities that establish and develop value. Traditional value chain did not focus on the customer insight and mainly depended on internal information and experience. Most businesses realized that the model had a number of challenges. Apart from being less flexible due to its nature of depending only on internal information and experience, this model did not essentially satisfy the necessities of customers.
Technological advancements have changed the nature of competition and buying habit in the market. For instance, many consumers have become more selective on the type of products they prefer. Consequently, it was necessary for businesses to change from traditional to modern value chain respectively. This would ensure that there is constant communication between companies and their customers. It implies that marketing strategies would be based on the responses obtained from customers (Lee 2009, p. 359). In order to effectively compete in the market and provide high quality products, it was necessary for companies to change to modern value chain that uses e-business model. Companies that reversed their value chain became proactive. This has made more sense in the present competitive market. Contemporary businesses have also been able to achieve their objectives due to specialization and collaboration.
